KUCHING (Feb 22): Ibans in Serian have been told to follow the Dayak Bidayuh National Association’s (DBNA) module when embarking on the survey of their native customary rights (NCR) land.
The advice came from Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during a courtesy call on him by a group of Iban community leaders from Serian yesterday.
When conducting land survey, all concerned landowners take the lead as surveyors, identifying their respective land boundaries, said Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development.
According to the visiting group leader Temenggong Datuk Harrison Lunsa, in order to facilitate them with the plan, Uggah would be providing them with three computers and three mobile GPS sets to record the boundaries.
Harrison also said that the courtesy call, which was held at Wisma Bapa Malaysia in Petra Jaya here, was intended to invite Uggah to their dinner gathering in Serian town this Saturday.
“He will also be giving our (group), Persatuan Ketua Masyarakat dan Tuai Rumah Iban Bahagian Serian, a grant worth RM30,000.” he added.
