MIRI (Nov 5): Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin has urged the public to refrain from making any speculation about a fire case which resulted in the death of a 13-year-old Chinese national.
The Transport Minister, who visited the scene of the fire at the single-storey house at Jalan Grand Park here, said he received a report from Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel following the 3.06am incident.
“I was told the fire involved a child. During the fire, both parents were not at home and the child was home alone at the time.
“A postmortem will be carried out by forensics on the victim, and the K9 Unit will also be investigating the scene,” he said, adding he would follow up with the Miri Hospital on the forensics report.
While at the site, Lee was with representatives from the Malaysian Red Crescent Miri and Sarawak Welfare Department to channel disaster relief to the victim’s family.
