MIRI (Nov 9): A search-and-rescue (SAR) operation for a 39-year-old man from Kampung Beraya Batu Satu here, who has been reported missing since Nov 2, is still ongoing.
According to a source from the Batu Niah Fire and Rescue Station, a rescue team today conducted a search around the streets in the Subis area using vehicles, as the location of the victim could not be ascertained.
The SAR operation started at 9am and involved nine Miri police personnel, six Malaysian Civil Defence Force personnel, two members of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), and 10 villagers.
The victim had been reported missing by his family members on Nov 2 at the Bekenu police station after he had failed to return home. He was also supposed to report to the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK) office on Nov 5.
The man was reported to be wearing a black long-sleeved shirt, floral-printed shorts, and slippers when he left the house.
