SIBU (Jan 30): Several areas here were affected by flooding following continuous rainfall over the past few days.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief, Andy Alie, reported that Jalan Lanang is submerged under about one foot of water, but remains passable for vehicles.
“Jalan Latap, Kampung Banyok, and Jalan Stabau are also flooded and not passable to vehicles,” he told The Borneo Post today.
Despite the persistent rain and rising water levels, Alie assured that the situation in areas under patrol remains under control.
In the town area, Jalan Khoo Peng Loong and Jalan Ling Kai Cheng have also been affected by flooding.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on Wednesday has forecast that much of Sarawak will experience heavy rainfall during the first days of Lunar New Year 2025.
MetMalaysia placed Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Subis under a Continuous Rain Warning (Danger), with heavy rain expected to continue until Jan 31.
