KUCHING (Feb 15): Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has called for greater collaboration between Petroleum Sarawak Bhd (Petros) and national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) to ensure Sarawak remains a key player in the energy sector.
He emphasised that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is open to sharing its resources for mutual benefit.
“What we have, we can share – we’re not stingy. Cannot just ‘makan seorang’ (eat alone).
“Petronas and Petros must work together, it cannot be Petronas alone, we must work together,” he stated when officiating at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Convention at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
He reassured that despite the challenges, Sarawak remains committed to fairness and inclusivity in the energy sector.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for recognising Sarawak’s role as a gas aggregator, Abang Johari said this acknowledgment paves the way for overcoming challenges.
“With this, we can solve any challenges we face. Even Transport Minister Anthony Loke agrees that this is a win-win for both Sarawak and Malaysia
“We share what we have. We don’t take everything for ourselves,” he said.
