KAPIT (March 15): A one-off education aid totalling RM46,000 has been disbursed to 46 students from Pelagus and Bukit Goram, both state constituencies under the Kapit parliamentary area.
The recipients are the holders of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) who are going to further their studies up to the tertiary level.
The cash incentive was approved by Works Minister and Kapit MP Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who was represented by a political secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Watson Awan Jalai at the presentation ceremony at a hotel here today.
The function held at Meligai Hotel saw each of eligible recipients, some represented by their parents, receive RM500 to help them start their enrolment in the higher studies at local colleges and university in the country 2024.
“This cash assistance from Dato Sri Nanta signifies his support to all of you to pursue quality education,” said Watson in his brief remarks.
Among those present were Kapit District Council deputy chairman Martin Bilun, Sarawak Public Communications Unit officer Mohd Matan Yok, Bukit Goram Service Centre officer James Sandak and local community leader Penghulu Sia Shui Poh.
