MIRI (March 19): The Federation of Orang Ulu Associations Sarawak Malaysia (Forum) has appointed local company Impact Design Associates Sdn Bhd to develop the Orang Ulu Cultural Gallery at the federation’s Orang Ulu Cultural Centre, located at Jalan Padang Kerbau here.
Forum in a statement said a signing ceremony involving its president Kennedy Chukpai Ugon and Impact Design Associates managing director Ho Min Yung was held in Kuching today.
Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department and Mulu assemblyman Datuk Gerawat Gala witnessed the signing ceremony.
“The development of the Orang Ulu Cultural Gallery at Forum’s building has been made possible through an additional grant provided by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during a courtesy call.
“The courtesy call was made by Forum’s building committee on Dec 3 last year, and led by Datuk Gerawat Gala.
“Abang Johari approved an additional grant of RM5 million for the development of the Orang Ulu Gallery, additional parking bays, and the refurbishment of the banquet hall in the Forum building,” read the statement.
It added that the Premier is expected to officiate the opening of the building in the third quarter of this year.
