KUCHING (April 10): Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received two courtesy calls at the Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya here today.
The first visit was made by the High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia Jodi Robinson, who was accompanied by the Director of the Sarawak Regional Office from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fenny Nuli; Counsellor and Senior Commissioner of Trade of Canada, Eric Pelletier; and Trade Commissioner, Yamunah Kandasamy.
According to a report by the state Information Department, the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the longstanding bilateral relations between Canada and Sarawak, as well as to explore opportunities for future cooperation.
It is understood that Robinson officially assumed her duties as the new High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia on Oct 21 last year.
The second courtesy call was made by the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sarawak, Raden Sigit Witjaksono, who was accompanied by his wife, Lucy Octavia.
During the meeting, Raden announced that he would be concluding his official duties in Sarawak at the end of this month.

He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Sarawak government and state dignitaries for their close cooperation during his tenure.
“We greatly appreciate the rapid progress achieved by Sarawak. During my time here, I have witnessed firsthand the benefits of close cooperation between Indonesia and Sarawak, especially in relation to Kalimantan,” he said.
“We hope that this good relationship can continue to be strengthened in all sectors,” he added.
