KUCHING (Sept 19): Former Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) president Bobby William has expressed confidence that the party will continue to grow stronger under its new leadership.
In congratulating newly elected president Dr John Brian Anthony and deputy president Dr Bernard Tahim, Bobby said the fresh line-up marked an important chapter for the party.
“I am confident that under the stewardship of Dr John Brian Anthony and Dr Bernard Tahim, and with the collective wisdom of the Supreme Council, PBDS will continue to grow stronger and reach greater heights,” he said in a statement today.
Bobby noted that the leadership renewal carries the hopes and aspirations of the Dayak community, and expressed belief that the new team would guide the party with courage, unity and vision.
“The task ahead is not easy, but it is filled with opportunities. With capable leadership and unwavering commitment, PBDS can once again rise as a credible political force for the Dayak community, ensuring that our people’s voices are heard and our rights safeguarded,” he said.
He also called on all members and supporters to rally behind the leadership so that PBDS may stand tall among the major political parties in Sarawak and Malaysia.
“Unity is strength. For the Bansa Dayak, for PBDS, and for our future,” Bobby added.
John Brian and Bernard were elected PBDS president and deputy president, respectively, during the party’s triennial delegates conference (TDC) in Sibu on Sept 18.
The TDC, which elected new office bearers for the 2025-2028 term, also saw Leighton Manjah become permanent chairman, and Dr Bego Sepop, Peter Asut and Puso Bujang the three vice-presidents.
Jerry Robert was elected Youth chief, while the deputy treasurer-general is Simon Peterson Awan.
Meanwhile, Saging Alun and Marylyn Mitsui were elected deputy secretary-general and Women’s chief, respectively, both uncontested.
The secretary-general will be appointed at the Supreme Council meeting within two weeks.
