KUCHING (April 14): Podium player Harith Danial Jefri has chalked up another milestone in his burgeoning career, this time on the collegiate stage in the United Kingdom.
The Miri-born played a key role in guiding his university team to the title at the BUCS Squash Championships, overcoming a strong field of top university players from across the UK.
Harith described the triumph as a rewarding outcome after months of preparation, with the team rising to the occasion in a tournament marked by intense and closely fought matches.
“We competed against some of the best university players in the UK, and the level was really high. Our team worked hard all season, so it was great to see that effort pay off with a gold medal and the trophy,” he said.
The victory underscores Harith’s steady progress under Malaysia’s elite Podium Programme as he continues to gain valuable exposure and competitive experience abroad.
Reflecting on the campaign, Harith emphasised the importance of unity and resilience in securing the title.
“We’re really proud of the performance and teamwork shown by everyone involved. It was a tough competition with strong opponents, but we stayed focused, supported each other and enjoyed the experience,” he added.
He also acknowledged the crucial role played by those behind the scenes in the team’s success.
“Big thanks to the coaches, supporters and the university for backing us. This win means a lot and motivates us to keep improving and aim even higher next season,” he said.
Harith’s latest achievement not only highlights his personal development at the international level but also reflects the growing impact of Sarawakian athletes making their mark on the international stage.
