KUCHING (Feb 23): Simunjan police have called for strengthened collaboration with the community as this is vital in the fight against crime.
Simunjan police chief DSP Rafhan Kepli said information from the community regarding criminal activities would help reduce crime rate.
“It can also simultaneously reduce the risk of crime, especially through preventive measures in residential areas and public places,” he said according to a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) report.
He said this during a meeting with Simunjan’s community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) in Kampung Kelka yesterday.
Rafhan said the programme aimed to remind participants of the importance of crime prevention awareness and the community’s responsibility in efforts to curb crime.
“It creates awareness of collaboration between the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Simunjan and KMKK, which is a strategic partner of the police in efforts to combat crime and creating a sense of security among the community,” he said.
Rafhan said through this programme, KMKK could hopefully provide information to the police if any criminal activities occur in residential areas.
