KOTA KINABALU (Dec 1): Joyce Heng justified her favourite status to emerge as champion in the Malaysia’s Strongest Man and Woman challenge in Melaka over the weekend.
The Penampang lass did it in style too by claiming top place finishes in all the disciplines to capture the Strong Woman Open title.
“I brought back gold for Sabah … I’m Malaysia’s strongest woman.
“This is my 31st achievement in Strongwoman and there will be more to come. I’ll keep working hard,” she told The Borneo Post yesterday.
Joyce was in her own class as she took on some of the country’s bests in the competition held at Bandar Hilir, A Famosa.
She finished first in all four disciplines namely Yokewalk & Farmerwalk, Overhead Medley, Tyre Flip and Car Deadlift to collect maximum 40 points.
Johor’s competitor Hurun Ain Hasan was second with 34 points and Kuala Lumpur’s Abiramy Divya Darshini was third with 31 points.
The other two Sabah representatives, Charles Khoo and Flavia Manie Luntak, also made the podium.
Charles won the Strongfit Man title while Flavia finished second in the Strong Woman under-70kg competition and third in Strong Fit Woman.
Meanwhile, Joyce will travel to Indonesia to compete in the Jakarta Strongest at Kuningan Mall in December.
“I’m the sole competitor (from Sabah) going to the Jakarta Strongest.
“It is going to be tough for me competing in back-to-back tournament but I’m ready for the challenge.
“I will give my best like always and stay healthy so as to bring glory to the state and country,” she said.
