KUCHING (May 6): Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) Sarawak continues its commitment to narrowing the communication gap between policymakers and the public through its Media Coffee Chat 2025, themed ‘Jargon Made Simpler’.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the programme aims to help media practitioners better understand and communicate technical and developmental terms, improving the clarity of government messages to the public.
The session featured engaging presentations by five guest speakers from various strategic sectors.
Sarawak Energy Berhad Senior Manager (Cooperative Excellence) Lee Yau Kei spoke on digitising Sarawak’s energy sector, while Mardiana Han from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak addressed legal jargon and requirements.
Heads of CEO Office of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy Dennis Harun Wong highlighted developments in hydrogen, algae, and the downstream oil and gas business.
While Pak Aji, owner of the Sarawak Edition account, spoke about understanding news in the digital space.
Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni also delivered a special briefing titled ‘Introduction to Sarawak Premier’s Initiatives and Commonly Used Jargon’, which further enriched the session with context on current state-led programmes.
As a token of appreciation to the participants and media practitioners who attended, Azam Sarawak also organised the ‘Media Engagement Night 2025’ in the evening, held on board the Royal Cruise Kuching.
The event was also graced by Azam Strategic Communications Committee 2024–2026 chairperson, Associate Professor Dr Margaret Chan; Azam Strategic Communications Committee 2024-2026 deputy chairman Alice Wee; Azam chief executive officer Ali Suhaili; Azam board member Angeline Lim Chiaw Ying; and Azam member Ahadiah Zamhari.
