KUCHING (July 27): Azizul Annuar Adenan has been re-elected as president of Taekwondo Malaysia (TM/WT) for the 2026-2030 term following the association’s 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently in Kuala Lumpur.
The Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF), in a statement, said Azizul retained the top post after defeating Datuk Dr Arasu Thangaveloo 37 votes to 12 in a two-cornered contest.
Azizul is also vice president of the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), president of Persatuan Taekwondo Negeri Sarawak (TM/WT) and Tanjong Datu assemblyman.
He thanked all affiliated members for their confidence and support, while pledging to continue strengthening the sport through unity, professionalism and good governance.
“Together, we will continue working towards elevating Malaysian taekwondo to greater heights,” he was quoted in the statement.
Looking ahead, Azizul said the association is committed to ensuring that the national team is fully prepared for the taekwondo competition in the 2027 SEA Games which will be held in Kuching.
According to him, the association is intensifying its planning, athlete development, coaching programmes and competition exposure to ensure Malaysia fields a strong and competitive squad capable of delivering outstanding performances on home soil.
“We are optimistic that Malaysian taekwondo will continue to achieve success both regionally and internationally,” he added.
