KUCHING (March 21): Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) today contributed RM3.6 million in business tithe (zakat) to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS), marking its highest contribution to date.
BPHB Group chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani presented the contribution to TBS general manager Datu Abg Mohd Shibli Abg Mohd Nailie in a ceremony witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia, Petra Jaya here.
According to Ruslan, the record-breaking contribution reflects BPHB’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development.
“Beyond fulfilling tax obligations, businesses also have a duty to contribute through zakat, ensuring that economic growth benefits those in need,” he added.
As part of its CSR initiatives, BPHB is also offering the Bintulu Port Scholarship Programme 2025, aimed at supporting Sarawakian students from B40 families.
Ruslan said that approximately 10 scholarships will be awarded this year.
