KOTA KINABALU (Nov 8): Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah will be using artificial intelligence as part of its election machinery for the coming 17th state election.
It has unveiled a new artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, a digital innovation designed to introduce its candidates and counter the spread of fake news ahead of the 17th State Election (PRN17).
The initiative, known as AI Chatbot BN Sabah, was officially launched on Saturday by BN Malaysia chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, marking a significant step forward in the coalition’s efforts to modernise its communication strategy and engage more effectively with young voters in the digital age.
The interactive platform allows the public, particularly youths and first-time voters, to get to know BN candidates more closely, learning about their backgrounds, campaign activities, and the coalition’s policies and commitments throughout Sabah.
Beyond introducing candidates, the AI Chatbot also serves as a key tool to tackle the rising tide of misinformation and fake news circulating on social media during the election period. The system will deliver verified and official updates directly to the public, ensuring that voters receive accurate, fact-based information.

BNComm Sabah Powered entirely by artificial intelligence, the chatbot can respond to a wide range of questions related to BN’s candidates, manifesto, campaign schedule, and achievements across the state.
Designed to be user-friendly and engaging, it provides an accessible way for voters especially the younger generation, to interact directly with BN’s official information sources.
Ahmad Zahid said the initiative demonstrates BN’s commitment to adapting to technological change and the evolving expectations of a new generation of voters. “This initiative shows that BN is not just a party with history, but one that continues to move in step with technological progress and the aspirations of the people,” he said.
The AI Chatbot BN Sabah will go fully operational on 12 November 2025, coinciding with the main phase of the 17th state election campaign.
