KUCHING (Nov 20): The Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (CVLB) Sarawak has been honoured with the Bureaucratic Red Tape Reform (RKB) Certificate from the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) for significantly streamlining a key licensing process.
The award was presented by the Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN), Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, to CVLB Sarawak director, Cornelia Wong Chui, during the Sarawak Public Service Day celebration at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.
In a statement, the board announced that the recognition was granted for its successful RKB project, which dramatically improved the efficiency of goods vehicle licence applications for entry into Sabah.
The processing time has been reduced from 13 days to immediate approval.
Previously, Sarawak ‘A’ carrier licence holders needed a supporting letter from CVLB Sarawak – a process that takes 13 days – before applying to operate in Sabah.
The same requirement applied to Sabah-based carriers entering Sarawak.
Effective Jan 2 this year, this step has been eliminated.
Sarawak and Sabah ‘A’ carrier licence holders no longer need a supporting letter to operate in each other’s regions.
The letter is now only required for operations entering Brunei Darussalam.
