KOTA KINABALU (March 17): Datuk Dexter Lau, Executive Director of KTC, announced his intention to run for the presidency of the Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah Branch in the upcoming election scheduled for May this year.
Dexter who has extensive experience in business and leadership, expressed his ambition to lead MCCC Sabah towards becoming a more dynamic and competitive organization.
In addition to announcing his candidacy, Dexter also revealed that he has identified his team members who will join him in steering MCCC Sabah towards a more progressive future.
Speaking to the media during the 2025 Iftar Tour organized by KTC and UPPM Sabah here today, Dexter hopes that, with strong support from MCCC Sabah members, they can work more effectively to advance the business sector in the state.
The MCCC Sabah Presidential Election in May 2025 is expected to serve as a crucial platform for determining the organization’s direction in the coming years.
Dexter has played a key role in strengthening economic and trade relations between Malaysia and China through his active involvement in the MCCC.
He currently serves as the deputy chairman of MCCC Sabah Branch and is a member of the MCCC Malaysia National Council.
In this role, he continues to drive bilateral economic growth by ensuring that trade relations between the two countries continue to flourish. He is also actively creating more business opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
His experience as a businessman gives him a significant advantage in attracting foreign investments. With in-depth knowledge of market needs, business strategies, and effective ways to connect with foreign investors, he is poised to play a crucial role in boosting foreign investment interest. This aligns with the government’s direction to expand foreign investment involvement across various industries in the state. His ability to identify opportunities and challenges while building strategic relationships can instill confidence in foreign investors to invest and grow alongside local industries.
