TUARAN (Sept 8): Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor hopes that the people would continue to support the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)–Pakatan Harapan (PH) Plus government to further develop the state.
He said the current state government will continue to bring development because it is their responsibility to do the best for the people.
“Therefore, I hope the people of this state do not easily believe or be swayed by the slander spread by irresponsible parties. In reality, we have done a lot since the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We have planned and implemented various programs to boost the economy of the people and the state.
Not only that, but we are also focusing on other aspects, including education and human capital, which are among the main focuses of the state government.
“We know there are challenges, including those inherited from previous administrations, such as water issues. However, the current government will continue to do its best to resolve these issues. What is important is the support from the people so that Sabah can continue to prosper within Malaysia,” he said when officiating the Lantern Festival celebration in Tuaran at Padang Astaka Tuaran on Saturday night.
Hajiji added that the government has and will continue to carry out more development and projects that benefit and provide convenience to the people of the state.
Also present were Rural Development Minister and Tamparuli assemblyman Datuk Jahid Jahim, Tuaran Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau; and the President of Lions Club Tuaran, Kapitan Frankie Goh, who is also the organizing chairman.
Hajiji also said the cultural diversity in Sabah should continue to be celebrated by all citizens, regardless of race and religion.
He pointed out that diversity in cultural aspects, such as the Lantern Festival, is one of the factors that have fostered unity and peace among the people of the state.
“This is the uniqueness and strength of Sabah, which serves as an example to other states. We have various celebrations that we enjoy together, regardless of race and religion. I am proud that the Lions Club of Tuaran has organized such a magnificent festival, and I hope that this tradition passed down from our ancestors will continue in the future,” he said.
