TUARAN (May 16): Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri today officiated the Kasih Remaja @ KafeTEEN programme at SMK Sri Nangka here.
The launch, held in conjunction with the 2025 Kembara Kasih initiative by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development, saw a lively turnout of students, parents and teachers.
The event was organised by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN).
Kasih Remaja @ KafeTEEN serves as a platform aimed at broadening the reach of reproductive and social health (SRH) education advocacy directly to targeted youth groups.
It also seeks to strengthen inter-agency collaboration through the implementation of the Kasih Remaja Advocacy programme.
The day’s programme at the school featured an engaging line-up of activities, including podcast sessions, sharing segments, traditional performances, exhibition booths, and health displays.
Among the participating exhibition booths were KafeTEEN KPPLN Sabah, PROSTAR Luyang Kota Kinabalu, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sabah campus, Cyberjaya College Kota Kinabalu, Almacrest College Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Youth Council, Department of Women’s Development, Social Welfare Department, and Sabah Social Institute.

Around 500 students took part in the event, which also received support from the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE).
Notably, Sabah is home to two schools that have established mini KafeTEEN centres, namely Sabah Sports School in Kota Kinabalu and SMK Sri Nangka in Tuaran.
KafeTEEN provides youth with a safe and supportive environment to express themselves, engage in social activities, learn and share knowledge, while also nurturing entrepreneurial skills.
With the facilities and programmes offered by KafeTEEN, teenagers are encouraged to remain in constructive environments, reducing the need to seek out potentially concerning spaces outside of school.
The Kasih Remaja @ KafeTEEN programme also fosters cross-sector collaboration between government agencies, private institutions and non-governmental organisations—all working together towards sustainable community empowerment.
