KUCHING (Aug 19): Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected to hit several divisions in Sarawak and several states in Peninsular Malaysia until 4pm today, said the Meteorological Department of Malaysia (MetMalaysia).

In an alert issued at 1pm, the department said this bad weather is to affect Samarahan (Simunjan), Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah (Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu and Dalat), Kapit (Song) and Miri in Sarawak.

MetMalaysia said similar weather conditions are also expected over the states of Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Yan, Kuala Muda, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak) and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun and Kemaman).

It added Pahang (Cameron Highlands and Bentong), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, Kuala Langat and Sepang), Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau and Tampin), Melaka and Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru) are also to experience such bad weather.
