
The Education Ministry is examining a report on a rubber factory fire that forced seven schools in Kulai to switch to home-based learning, with dozens of students reporting health symptoms.
MUAR: The Ministry of Education is reviewing a comprehensive report on the impact of a rubber factory fire that affected seven schools in Kulai, Johor.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the report details how the blaze disrupted teaching and learning activities at the institutions.
“Overall, we have received the report on what happened,” Fadhlina said.
She confirmed all affected schools are currently conducting home-based teaching and learning.

The report on the fire’s impact will be examined before appropriate action is taken.
A detailed assessment will identify any damage to school infrastructure and teaching equipment.
Student safety will also be a key focus of the ministry’s review.
The affected schools are SJKC Sengkang, SJKC Kulai Besar, SK Taman Kota Kulai, SK Taman Kota Kulai 2, SMK Taman Kota Kulai, SMK Taman Putri and Sekolah Agama Taman Kota Kulai.
Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said 80 students reported mild health symptoms.
He said 56 students from SK Taman Kota Kulai and 24 from SK Taman Kota Kulai 2 were affected.
The students experienced headaches, cough, eye irritation and shortness of breath.
These symptoms were linked to smoke inhalation from the factory fire.
