KUCHING (Feb 3): Mitsubishi Corporation has expressed its interest in continuing to strengthen cooperation with Sarawak in various fields, particularly in the development of carbon neutrality.
Its executive vice president Kiyotaka Kikuchi said that during a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, future business developments were discussed with a main focus on green energy and environmental sustainability initiatives.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Kikuchi also expressed Mitsubishi Corporation’s appreciation for the close relationship it has enjoyed with the Sarawak government for 50 years.
“We have not discussed in detail any specific projects, but our discussions today focused on mutual benefits and future strategies,” he said when met by the media after a courtesy call on the Premier at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
He added that during their meeting, Abang Johari emphasised on ensuring the success of projects related to carbon neutrality.
“Sarawak is seen to have great potential to become a carbon neutrality centre in the Asean region, with its growing infrastructure and investment-friendly policies.
“Further discussions are expected to continue in future meetings to detail the forms of cooperation that can be implemented between Mitsubishi Corporation and Sarawak in the sustainable energy sector,” he said.
