KUCHING (Aug 24): All pipeline infrastructure and facilities in the affected region remain fully secure and operational following the minor earthquake near Segamat, Johor, today, said Petronas Gas Berhad (PGB).
Upon receiving notification of the tremor, PGB said its technical and regional teams promptly activated standard safety protocols already in place for such events across the Southern Region.
“As part of these established procedures, checks were carried out at the Segamat Compressor Station, Segamat Control Station and along the relevant pipeline Right-of-Way (ROW).
“No abnormalities or disruptions were detected,” said the company in a statement.
PGB said live monitoring through its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system also confirmed that pressure levels and operational parameters remained stable.
It added that it is maintaining active communication with relevant local authorities and the Malaysian Meteorological Department for ongoing updates.
“We will continue to prioritise the safety of the public and our operations as we carry out close surveillance, standing ready to respond should conditions evolve,” added PGB.
