KOTA KINABALU (Aug 31): People from various walks of life came as early as dawn today to celebrate the National Day and the inaugural Sabah Day with a grand parade at Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens here.
The celebration began with the arrival of the Head of State, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni, who were welcomed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.
Tun Juhar later inspected the guard-of-honour, witnessed the oath-reciting and the choir performance, followed by the parade.

The parade began with a contingent carrying the Jalur Gemilang and Sabah flag as well as the flags of all states in Malaysia.

A total of 185 contingents representing security forces, government departments and agencies, uniformed bodies, associations and schools participated in this year’s parade.
