KOTA KINABALU (April 20): Sabah dancesport athletes dazzled under the lights at the 13th Singapore ‘Stars Of Tomorrow’ Open Dancesport Championships recently.
Four dancers from Dancespiration Studio Kota Kinabalu led by coach Marlon Estella Aballe made Sabah proud by clinching 28 gold, 11 silver and six bronze medals.
An outstanding individual performance was delivered by nine-year-old Amanda Sophie Ng from SJK (C) St. James who carried off the Overall Solo Grand Champion Award- along with 21 gold and three first runner-up medals in her Latin events.
Teammates Adeela Dania Azhanorhisam and Nathania Jintoni Girishan, both aged 12 and from SRS Datuk Simon Fung, secured two gold medals each in the Latin Under-12 category. Adeela also won five silver and four bronze medals while Nathania added three silver and one bronze medals under their individual solo section.
Andrew Lau Ching Yee, eight, picked up three gold medals in the Juvenile Ender-9 Couple category together with teammate Amanda Sophie Ng. He also claimed a second runner-up and third runner-up finishes in his solo events.
Adriana Voon, founder and owner of Dancespiration Studio, said the series of victories mark an inspiring milestone for Sabah’s dancesport community.
“These achievements reflect not only our dancers’ hard work and dedication but also how Sabah’s dancesport talent is making its mark on the international stage.
“We hope this inspires more young athletes to pursue dancesport passionately and represent Malaysia with pride,” Voon was quoted in statement by the studio the weekend.
