KUCHING (July 15): Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar paid a courtesy call on the Sultan of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and his wife, Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha, at Istana Nurul Iman, Bandar Seri Begawan today.
In a post on his official Facebook page, Wan Junaidi said the meeting was conducted in a cordial and respectful atmosphere.
According to the post, the meeting touched on matters of mutual interest, particularly the close ties between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.
Wan Junaidi was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Wan Junaidi said he and Fauziah expressed their deepest appreciation and gratitude to His Majesty and Her Majesty for the royal audience.
They also conveyed their prayers for the continued strengthening of friendship and diplomatic cooperation between Malaysia, particularly Sarawak, and Brunei Darussalam for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Both Wan Junaidi and Fauziah are in Bandar Seri Begawan for the Brunei Sultan’s 79th birthday celebration.
Prior to the courtesy call, they attended the Royal Investiture Ceremony held in conjunction with the birthday celebration.
The royal ceremony, steeped in tradition and regal customs, took place at the Singgahsana Indera Buana, Istana Nurul Iman here.
Wan Junaidi expressed his deepest appreciation and gratitude to the Sultan of Brunei for the royal invitation and the honour of participating in the ceremony.
Also present were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr Abang Johari Tun Openg; Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud; as well as Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Commission, and Islamic Affairs), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
