KUCHING (Aug 6): Sarawak Consolidated Industries Berhad’s (SCIB) wholly-owned subsidiary SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd (SIBS) has secured an RM24.59 million engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) subcontract for the proposed reconstruction works of SK Kaingaran’s dilapidated building in Tambunan, Sabah.
SCIB announced in a statement that the Letter of Award was issued by Belian Juta Sdn Bhd (BJSB).
Under the subcontract, SIBS will undertake the execution, performance, and completion of the reconstruction works, including the provision of all necessary materials, machinery, equipment, mechanical plants, and labour required for the project.
The project is scheduled to commence on Aug 10 and is expected to be completed by Jan 22, 2029, providing the group with earnings visibility over an approximately 29-month execution period.
The latest award further strengthens SCIB’s construction and EPCC project pipeline in Sabah while reinforcing the group’s established track record in delivering public sector education infrastructure projects.
Non-independent non-executive chairman Datuk Chong Loong Men said this latest contract reflects the continued confidence placed in SCIB’s project execution capabilities in Sabah’s public infrastructure sector.
Pointing out that education infrastructure plays a vital role in supporting community development, he said SCIB is honoured to contribute to creating a safer and more conducive learning environment through the reconstruction of SK Kaingaran.
“Sabah continues to offer attractive opportunities, driven by ongoing investments in education, public infrastructure, and community facilities.
“As we continue to strengthen our presence in East Malaysia, our focus remains on disciplined project selection, effective project execution, and expanding our order book with quality projects that support sustainable earnings visibility,” he added.
SCIB said the contract is expected to contribute positively to its future earnings over the tenure of the project, with revenue and profit recognised progressively in line with the progress of the works.
The project will be funded through internally generated funds and/or project progress billings, allowing the group to efficiently align its funding requirements with project implementation.
Moving forward, SCIB pledges to remain committed to expanding its construction and EPCC portfolio by pursuing opportunities that complement its technical capabilities and operational expertise.
As the group continues to strengthen its presence across Sabah and Sarawak, SCIB will remain focused on strengthening its project pipeline, maintaining disciplined project execution and cost management, as well as delivering projects that create sustainable long-term value for its stakeholders.
