Johor is among the top states for early Year One 2027 registrations, with nearly 50,000 applications received nationally in just two weeks.
MUAR: Johor has recorded one of the highest registrations for six-year-olds entering Year One for the 2027 school session.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said nearly 50,000 applications were received nationwide within two weeks of registration opening.
She said the figure is an early positive signal for the Malaysia Education Blueprint (RPM) 2026-2035. The blueprint sets mandatory targets to be achieved within a decade.

“When Johor became among the states with the highest figure, it shows parents are ready to commit and have confidence in the system,” she told a media conference here today.
Fadhlina said the registration period runs until March 31, but the ministry will continue to accept applications after that date.
She added that the ministry had projected up to 700,000 registrations. Thorough preparation is underway for infrastructure and teacher recruitment.
“The latest development enables the ministry to draw up more detailed planning according to states and schools,” she said.
She said the registration is part of RPM implementation, which emphasises improving education quality and empowering pupils.
The ministry is intensifying the Tekad Reformasi Pendidikan Programme as a platform for ongoing briefings and engagement.
Fadhlina said the process of explanation and engagement will continue periodically to strengthen policy support.
She was speaking after the ‘Jaulah Ramadan Komuniti 2026’ Programme at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Maahad Muar.
The programme featured a Tekad briefing session for teachers, parents and the community. It explained the strategic thrusts of the RPM and the role of families.
The Ministry of Education programme aims to strengthen ties between ministry personnel and the local community. It also seeks to boost appreciation for the month of Ramadan.
The programme combines elements of spirituality, welfare and education to provide a positive impact.
One main objective is to provide clear explanations about the RPM 2026-2035. This education roadmap aims to build a strong foundation and improve access to education.
