
Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah joined palace staff for a religious lecture and the distribution of traditional porridge at Istana Negara to mark the holy month.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Queen of Malaysia, Raja Zarith Sofiah, attended a religious talk and the distribution of bubur lambuk at Istana Negara today in conjunction with Ramadan.
Her Majesty presented the traditional porridge to 500 palace staff members during the event.
The Queen also attended a tazkirah titled “If This Were the Last Ramadan” delivered by Prof. Dr. Sharifah Hayaati Syed Ismail Al-Qudsy from Universiti Malaya.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s official Facebook page, Raja Zarith Sofiah expressed appreciation for the gentle speaking style of the Johor-born professor.
Her Majesty has known Sharifah Hayaati since around 2007.
The Queen also performed the Dhuhr prayer in congregation at the palace’s main surau.
She later signed a book she had previously gifted to the professor before Sharifah Hayaati left for further studies in the United States in 2007.
