KUCHING (July 15): Sarawakian vocalist Taylor Louise has performed for Norhalilah Jalil, Malaysia’s Consul General in New York, following her recent triumph at Carnegie Hall.
The 12-year-old paid a courtesy call on Norhalilah at the Consulate General of Malaysia office in New York.
Taylor recently clinched first prize in the Age 10–12 Vocal Category and received the prestigious Excellence Young Talent Special Prize at the 2026 New York International Golden Classical Music Awards.
During the courtesy call, she performed her award-winning song for Norhalilah, who praised the young singer’s vocal ability and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.
“It was such an honour to meet the Consul General of Malaysia in New York. I am truly grateful for her kindness, encouragement, and inspiring advice,” Taylor said in a statement.
“Her words have given me even more motivation to work hard, stay strong, and never give up on my dreams.”
She also shared her deep admiration for Norhalilah, who is the first woman to serve as Consul General of Malaysia in New York.
