KUCHING (Jan 20): Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi received two courtesy calls at Astana Negeri here today.
The first delegation was from Pertubuhan Keturunan dan Waris Pengiran Sarawak, led by its advisor Awang Indra Aang Mostapa, according to a statement by the state Information Department.
When met after the visit, the association’s chairman Awang Magerib Awang Ani said they were seeking advice from Wan Junaidi on efforts to collect genealogies of princes from Sarawak and Brunei.
Wan Junaidi expressed support for the association’s efforts, and proposed collaboration with parties such as the Museum Department, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and the National Archives Department.
“Tun himself provided an easy way for us to collaborate with those who have knowledge about history, especially UiTM and government agencies,” said Awang Magerib.
The Sarawak Governor also suggested the results of the research be documented as a book for future reference.
The association, which was established in 2018, currently has about 500 members.

Meanwhile, the second courtesy call was made by a delegation from the Malaysia Ex-Police Association (PBPM), led by its president Dato Dr Mokhtar Omar.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss the welfare of police retirees, specifically regarding the provision of affordable or special rental houses for them.
The delegation also touched on the recognition and appreciation from the Sarawak government for police retirees.
According to Mokhtar, some police retirees still need welfare assistance such as housing in recognition of their services to Sarawak.
Also discussed during the visit were increased health support, educational skills development, economic development and career opportunities, increased social welfare, appreciation and recognition, roles in social and community development, cooperation in the management of welfare funds and increasing networking and support.
PBPM also called on police retirees, who have yet to become its members, to join the association in order to enjoy benefits offered for them.
