MIRI (Dec 29): Founder of Malaysia Action for Justice and Unity (MAJU) Sarawak, Peter John Jaban, has expressed support for Sabah youths’ rally against corruption and abuse of power, scheduled to take place in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow (Dec 31).
In a statement issued here yesterday, the activist regarded the decision to rise against corruption as ‘more than just a fight for justice’.
“It is a manifestation of their (Sabah youths’) unwavering spirit, daring to dream of a brighter and fairer future.
“We, as human rights and political activists in Sarawak, express our steadfast support for Sabah’s brave and educated youths.”
Adding on, Peter viewed the upcoming rally as ‘representing a clear stand against corruption’, which had eroded the dignity, resources and the rights of the Sabahans.
“This rally is a beacon of hope and a loud cry against the powers that have long treated Sabah as a tool for their own benefits.
“Sabah youths bring a vision untainted by the failures of the past. They see Sabah as a state that is just and equitable, where the governance prioritises the people, not the corrupt elite.
“Their courage to dream and act ignites the spark for change,” he stressed.
Peter said unlike the older generations tied to outdated systems, the young people were ‘unburdened by compromises and vested interests’.
“Their moral clarity and cultural values make them a force of unwavering integrity. With relentless passion and extraordinary courage, Sabah’s young leaders are ready to bear the heavy responsibility of fighting injustice.
“Their resilience and refusal to retreat send a clear message that Sabah will no longer be a victim of exploitation,” he pointed out.
Peter added that while education had equipped the youths with knowledge, their unshakable honesty and cultural values had made them the ultimate catalysts for change.
“They are not only challenging corruption, but also reclaiming Sabah’s rights, resources and future. Their fight is deeply personal, as they bear the consequences of today’s injustices and will live with the outcomes of tomorrow’s decisions.
“We are filled with hope and pride to see Sabah youths rise to shape the future of their state. Their struggle is not just their own – it is the struggle of every Sabahan who dreams of a fairer and more equitable state.
“With education, strong moral values, cultural integrity and untainted honesty, they are the light piercing through the darkness of corruption and exploitation. The time for change is now. The time for justice has arrived.
“Together, we will reclaim Sabah’s dignity and ensure a brighter future for generations to come,” said Peter.
